The is a document to describe the work in progress for the Cap and Dove commission. My piece was initially sparked by the climate emergency and the issues of air pollution in Greater Manchester. I wanted to draw on historical sources to make our shared air tangible and researched how pollution was handled in the early modern era through to the 20th Century.
This document includes a short essay description of my research into miasmic theory , smell and class.
